Xbox One is my choice

Disclaimer: All that I'm writing in this blog is all based on my OPINION!

Now to begin,

I've always been the gamer in my crew that's been a bit of the black sheep when it came to game console choices. I first started off with the Sega Genesis (Sonic the Hedgehog 2), then moved onto N64 (Goldeneye anyone!?), then came the Gamecube (burned it out playing PSO), then got an Xbox (Halo was the first shooter game I ever owned), then I purchased the 360 (too many games I love to name). Now this next gen I'm going to stick with MSFT and purchase their Xbox One. Why is this despite the DRM, the online checks, the so-called "unimpressive" game line-up, simple answer in my eyes:

The Xbox has been a party system since it's inception, and I love party systems. Sony never gave me that, I felt that the PS1-PS3 and even the PS4 are going to be geared towards ONE MAN AND HIS MACHINE, whereas MSFT was ONE MACHINE AND MANY MEN. Yes, Sony has A LOT of badass exclusives, and the incentive of owning PS+ is fucking AMAZING (sad that MSFT just caught up to them on this feature just recently), but I'm happy with my choice in consoles.

Though I shall be honest and say that I was on the fence and at one point even skeptical about the "restrictions" of the X1. So I'm going to speak on the main ones and explain why they don't hinder me.

Connectivity checks: Now I know everyone is raging, "MSFT did some serious bullshit with this", but to me this has been something that anyone who has ever gamed on a PC encounters, whether through having to enter a randomized code every couple hours, entering a captcha, or even having to do something else to prove that you're human and legally utilizing the game's mechanics in compliance with the Terms and Services. I feel that this check isn't going to be as intrusive as some people may honestly think, I think it's really just going to be something that runs in the background and may just ping you when it's done to let you know that you're connection was checked. No real big deal, being that many of us do have internet majority of the time. Though I think that them having this is to make sure that they keep anyone from possibly attempting to do anything malicious while "offline." Though at the same time, not having a true "offline mode" for the system does suck.

Games protocols: This was I think the "knife in the heart" to a lot of gamers in the world, because NO ONE LIKES TO BE TOLD WHAT THEY CAN AND CANNOT DO WITH THEIR PROPERTY, and I do agree with anyone on that. With that said, the whole bitching about lending games, to me personally I haven't loan a game to anyone since RE6 came out, prior to that all my friends (majority in other states) simply just bought the same games and we played together. Being that for both companies the PUBLISHERS have control over their DRM and even the control which games can be sold or not. Now I know with the way everything is going nowadays, Disc-based games while eventually be a thing of the past and everything shall be 100% digital, once this happens all consoles shall have to deal with these protocols. Though for the time being, Sony has the advantage here.

Also the fact that I can gift a game is pretty cool, I mean if someone I care about really wants a game that I have and they can't afford to buy it, I think it's badass I can give them that game to have. Also the ability to allow 10 people on my console with a GT to access my library freely is also pretty badass.

Backwards compatibility: This has been a tad bit of an issue with the current gen, a lot of classic games not working properly on the consoles due to different processor. This is the same case as well with the next gen, yet I hope that if MSFT keeps this 2 free games a month deal they'll realize that they have to start converting games over ASAP to allow people to play older games that probably aren't even sold in stores anymore.

Used games: This is probably may BIGGEST issue, some games that come out for ANY console I feel at times aren't worth the full retail value. Everyone's opinion on that will vary and will change. I do enjoy buying a used game of a game I wanted to check out, but a good remedy for all future games PERIOD, give us a damn demo, so we can try before we even put money down on the games.

Kinect:  I personally enjoy the Kinect, I play horribly at Dance Central 3 with my sister, and also it's fun to yell at your tv to feel like a badass when I'm playing ME or GRFS and watching my AIs respond to my commands. Now the next gen Kinect I think is getting bashed partially because of a few reasons:
1) It's ALWAYS ON
2) MSFT is on the list of those under PRISM
3) It may be hypersensitive (Don't want to have to beat someone's ass if they come in and "XBOX OFF" while I'm in mid game, oh blood would be shed)
4) It's a bit too massive

Though honestly if MSFT wants to spy on me, they can go right ahead, I'll just every now and then wave the one finger salute at my Kinect and then continue my jovial play.

Now even with these issues, I'm still looking forward to getting my Xbox One. I may not pick it up day One being that MSFT still has quite a bit of games coming for the 360, but it's going to be my primary console. I mean the specs don't compare that superior to Sony, but it's still enjoyable to me. Yeah they're late on the Blu-ray, but hey "better late than never." Plus I gotta hand it to the Japanese company, they fucking RULE the tech world honestly! So with this I close my rant that many people are probably going to break down, slander, and ridicule, but I felt I needed to write this little blog post.

I just can't wait to go to work tomorrow after posting this, I just know all the fanboys shall rage on me, and the few actual "gamers" shall actually have a conversation with me about my decision.

Though don't get me wrong, I plan to buy both consoles this generation, being that PS4 is region free, I'm going to get my hands on MH:Frontier one way or another.

Too Little Words, too many ways

Written from the eyes of a child to the mother that they love.

The nine months that you carried me I got to receive the ultimate bond. Just you and me, as one entity. The years that followed that are riddled with downs and failures; yet they are blessed with ups and victories. Words learned, love shared, beatings given, and hugs of care; all done in the manner of love; your love for this child you held up to the world. As time elapsed and I began to live more in this world, you let me spread my wings and learn of the world; yet you never left my side. You went from being my wall to my shadow, always with me even when you're unseen. You pushed my forward, I thought it was you just being mean. You saw the potential I couldn't see, you see the hills I have to overcome before I could even blink.

You were my first pillar of support and my last line of defense. You are there when I feel alone. No man or woman shall ever lead me astray from you but for soo long. I am going to rebel, but that's to be expected, what can I say I'm young and dumb. Yet you put the fear of God into me, and showed me that I have to learn to not become numb; numb to HIM and to you and those who love me. Yet to grasp the world with my hand, because you showed me that everything that I could ever want is possible, my only true villian is the one in the mirror. You know that even when I do fall short and run out of places to go, I shall always come back to you, the one who showed me that I was never invincible and will always need to learn to not get in my own way.

I thank you too little, and I can't express the love I have for you because your love outweighs mine 100 to 1. So these few words I write from my heart is my gift to you and I can say I meet those odds 101.

Happy Mother's Day from the child you love.
